Chicken Schnitzel Burger with French Fries
Ingredients (Serves 1)
- 1 brioche bun
- 1 chicken fillet (approximately 150 g)
- 2 slices of bacon
- 2 slices of cheese (Gouda or Cheddar)
- ½ tomato, sliced into 2 thick rounds
- 1-2 iceberg lettuce leaves
- 2 heaped tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 medium potatoes for frying
For the coating
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten with a pinch of salt and pepper
- Crispy coating mixture: equal parts breadcrumbs and crushed corn flakes
Method
Prepare the chicken
Butterfly the chicken fillet or slice it horizontally and gently pound it until evenly thin.
1. Toast the bun
Lightly butter a frying pan and toast both halves of the brioche bun until golden brown. This helps prevent the bun from becoming soggy once assembled.
2. Cook the bacon
Cook the bacon slices in a non-stick pan without additional oil until crisp and golden on both sides.
3. Prepare the chicken schnitzel
Coat the chicken in flour, then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally cover it with the breadcrumb and corn flake mixture.
Fry over medium-high heat until golden brown and crispy. As soon as it comes out of the pan, place the cheese slices on top so they melt over the hot schnitzel.
4. Prepare the fries
Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them into fries, leaving the skin on. Fry in hot oil until golden and crispy.
Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Season with salt and pepper and, if desired, add oregano or paprika.
5. Assemble the burger
- Bottom bun
- Mayonnaise
- Iceberg lettuce
- Tomato slices
- Chicken schnitzel topped with melted cheese
- Crispy bacon
- A second layer of mayonnaise on the top bun
- Close the burger
Serve with the crispy fries and a side of mayonnaise dip.
